Kenny has begun recording at the Rubber Room studio in Chapel Hill Many of Kenny's favorite artists have recorded there including Doc Watson, Rhiannon Giddens, Steep Canyon Rangers, Mipso, Mandolin Orange (now Watch House), etc. He is working with engineer/producer Jerry Brown and several outstanding studio musicians are helping out (more about this later).
He will be performing with singer/songwriter/guitarist Jordan Alikraish at the Azalea Festival in Wilmington, NC in August. They are working on some originals and a beautiful cover of the Civil Wars' song 20 Years.
Merch!! There will be merch in the coming months! A new logo for tee shirts, etc. is in the works.
He is also enjoying playing "Beulah" the stand up bass (seen to the left) with singer/songwriter/guitarist Alice Osborn.
Look for future performances with old friend Ron Poythress who is finishing a beautiful album recorded at the Rubber Room featuring Andrew Marlin (Watch House) on mandolin, Joseph Terrell (Mipso) on backing vocals and guitar, Robbie Link on bass, Rebecca Newton on backing vocals, etc.
Banjo update: Kenny picked up a gorgeous handmade open back banjo made by the Pisgah Banjo Company recently at Acoustic Corner in Black Mountain. Plan on hearing some clawhammer banjo at his next gig!
